| Performs technical laboratory testing in the clinic laboratory. Lab duties at Arlington location. Chemistry, Hemotology and Microbiology. |
Duties: |
| Prepare bone marrow aspirates and biopsies for analysis, as well as fine needle aspirates per procedure manual. Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results for the following instruments/tests: NE1500, MLA 800, ESR, Retics, Synovial fluid analysis, HCG, Wet preps/KOH preps, Rapid Strep, Mono Hemoccult Slide developing, Dimension RxL, Abbott Imx, Microbiology testing, Abbott LCx, Serology testing, Clinitek 200+, Manual differentials, Beckman Access. 3. Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples for procedures described in #2 above. 4. Adhere to quality assurance policies, corrective action policies and preventive maintenance policies for procedures described above. 5. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications. 6. Immediately notify technical supervisor when identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance if problem cannot be corrected. 7. Perform phlebotomy as needed. 8. Perform clerical work as needed. 9. Prepare blood and urine specimens to be sent out to reference labs. 10. Maintain area and equipment in a clean orderly fashion. 11. Attend safety classes and other continuing education classes as offered by PE. 12. Maintain yearly CPR certification. 13. Must work under the direct supervision of the general supervisor when performing highly complex testing if MLT does not have at least two years experience performing highly complex testing. An MLT without adequate experience will not perform the following tests without a general supervisor on site: Reading microbiology cultures Chlamydia LCx probe GC LCx probe Iron Binding Capacity Body Fluid microscopic Semen Analysis Manual differential Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Qualifications: |
| Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for operation and repair of all department equipment. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment. Associate Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician, ASCP or NCA certification, with at least four years experience in all laboratory departments. |
