Description: |
The Residential Technician positions functions as a part of the clinical team in a culturally sensitive Residential Treatment Level III setting. Staff provide the necessary supports to clients who are dually diagnosed with a mental illness or severe emotional disturbance and co-occurring developmental disability. Service requires awake staff around the clock, and supervision of the clients is continuous. Shift work is involved with the positions requiring an ability to work irregular and weekend schedules.
Shifts available: 2pm - midnight, midnight - 8am, and weekends 8am-8pm and 8pm-8am |
Duties: |
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide hands on support services to individuals in a residential setting.
Perform client behavioral intervention, skills training, psycho-educational groups/supports and/or community inclusion services as assigned.
Follow Treatment and/or Person Centered Plan.
Auditory and visual observations of clients' behaviors and interpersonal interactions to report in the clients' daily service notes and in the shift report.
Complete documentation, incident reports and other data.
Provide accurate and pertinent information to the Treatment Coordinators, Program
Facilitators and/or Program Manager that will be utilized in Treatment Team / CFT meetings.
Attend supervision, staff development meetings, and training sessions as required.
Maintain professional and therapeutic boundaries with individuals and families being served at all times.
Provide intervention and support services in a manner that respects the individual, the client's rights, their safety, privacy, property, and therapeutic purposes.
Demonstrate knowledge of the growth and developmental needs of the child and adolescent populations and is able to adapt interventions to meet the age-specific and
disability-specific developmental needs of the clients.
Maintain CPI (or approved equivalent of non-violent Crisis Prevention Intervention) techniques, CPR, First Aid and OSHA/Blood Borne Pathogen training on an annual basis.
Accompany clients into the community as requested.
Assist in maintaining the general cleanliness and upkeep of the facilities and vehicles. Reports to supervisor any repairs of the facility or vehicles that are needed.
Performs any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned.

Qualifications: |
Must be twenty-one (21) years of age;
High School Diploma or GED.
Generally works in an enclosed, non-smoking environment. Work settings, however, will also include general outdoor activities and various locations throughout the community at large.
Possible job related hazards may include lacerations, infectious diseases, skin and eye irritation from cleaning agents, and human bites/scratches/saliva.
Employees may be required to bend, stoop, assume awkward positions as well as lift and pull clients during physical interventions.
Position requires ability to independently accomplish assigned tasks, use independent discretion for purpose of representing the organization in public and private settings, to work productively with minimal supervision, to attend to details in reviewing and producing documents, to stay organized and complete multiple tasks in a fast paced, unpredictable environment, and to remain calm and effectively de-escalate crisis situations.
This position may require you to drive a company -owned vehicle. Drivers must maintain a current and valid North Carolina driver's license without any restrictions.
